The first American referee assigned to referee a game between two European teams in Europe, handling an Ireland-Soviet Union game in 1990. Kleinaitis, who was a FIFA international referee from 1985 to 1990, also refereed the NCAA championship game in five different years between 1980 and 1989, club internationals, North American Soccer League games and World Cup qualifiers. Inducted in 1995.
