Joe Robbie

2003 Inductee

A North American Soccer League team owner. Robbie and his wife, Elizabeth, owned the Miami franchise in the NASL from 1972 to 1984. Their team played from 1972 to 1976 as the Miami Toros, from 1977 to 1983 as the Fort Lauderdale Strikers and in 1984 as the Minnesota Strikers. Their teams reached the NASL championship games in 1974 and 1980 and made the NASL playoffs seven seasons in a row. Inducted in 2003.
