Owner of the Chicago Sting, who played in the North American Soccer League from 1975 to 1984 and the Major Indoor Soccer League from 1984 to 1988. Under Stern, the Sting won NASL championships in 1981 and 1984. He was chairman of the NASL executive committee in 1981 and 1982 and chairman of the MISL executive committee from 1986 to 1988. Inducted in 2003.
