President of the National Soccer League of Chicago for more than 20 years. Hemmings, who was born in England and came to America as a teenager in 1921, had played for teams in Pennsylvania, Minnesota and Illinois before becoming president of the NSL in 1946. He oversaw considerable growth in that league before retiring from his position in 1970. Inducted in 1961.
