A forward who retired as the leading goal scorer in Major League Soccer history, Chris Wondolowski played 17 seasons in MLS between 2005 and 2021, for San Jose and Houston. He scored a total of 171 regular-season goals (along with two playoff goals), surpassing Landon Donovan’s regular-season total of 145.
Wondolowski was named to the MLS Best XI three times, in 2010, 2011, 2012. His best goal-scoring season was 2012, when he had 27 goals. That accomplishment and was part of a streak of 10 consecutive seasons in which he scored at least 10 goals.
He led MLS in goal scoring twice, in 2010 and 2012. During his MLS career, Wondolowski played 413 regular-season games and seven playoff games.
He also played 35 full internationals for the United States between 2011 and 2016, including two games at the 2014 World Cup. He also was a member of the United States team at the 2016 Copa America.
